On May 11, 2021, a scientific webinar "Bulgaria and innovations in the аreas of digital cultural and scientific heritage" was held, organized by the e-infrastructures KLADA-BG, UNITE and the DISTILL project. The webinar brought together scientists, researchers and students from museums, libraries and archival institutes who are interested in various aspects of the digitalisation of cultural and natural heritage. The participants presented the views of professionals from different sectors related to digital cultural and natural heritage. At the invitation of the organizers, Prof. Boyko Georgiev (IBEI-BAS), Assoc. Prof. Borislav Guéorguiev (NMNHS-BAS) and Silvia Tosheva (NMNHS-BAS) took part with the presentation "Digitisation of natural-history collections: DiSSCo-BG", presented by Prof. Boyko Georgiev.

During the webinar the publication of the book “Open a GLAM Lab” in Bulgarian was announced, published by the Publishing House of the BAS “Prof. Marin Drinov”. The book is dedicated to the creation of laboratories in the GLAM - institutions from the cultural and scientific heritage sector - galleries, libraries, archives and museums. The innovative laboratories in these institutions are responding to the growing need to apply intelligent methods for the analysis of large collections of cultural and natural sites and data. There are several infrastructures in Bulgaria that support the work in this area, as KLADA-BG and UNITE, which at the end of 2021 will be joined by the infrastructure of the DiSSCo project.
